“Muchas Gracias” HL Hotel Club Playa Blanca, Lanzarote

HL Hotel Club Playa Blanca

We have just returned from a two-week break at HL Hotel Club Playa Blanca in Lanzarote. The hotel was fun, friendly, clean with exceptional food, drinks and entertainment.

Themed Restaurant

Food at HL Hotel Club Playa Blance
Fabulous Food

HL Hotel Club Playa Blanca boasts a huge selection of food in the evenings with Mexican, Arabic/Indian, Chinese, Canarian, Italian and other themed evenings. There was always something for everyone with lollipops for the kids when they left. A nice touch!

The ‘afternoon’ choices lacked variety, but it was still the same exceptional quality and we made up for it in the morning and evening.

In the restaurant, Amstel beer, various wines, juices and fizzy drinks were freely available on tap. Plates were cleared straight away, thanks to the extremely hard working waiters and waitresses.

Cocktails and Drinks

Nuts with a Cocktail

As part of the “All Inclusive”, Sex On The Beach, Blue Lagoon, Pina Colada, Vodka Sun and Tequila Slammer were just a few of the  cocktails we enjoyed. They also did non-alcoholic ones for kids too such as San Francisco and Caribe Dreams.

The local Irish Cream was the equivalent to Baileys, Sangria was on tap and the Coconut Mousse was really nice too, served with ice.

If you’re feeling really special, you also had the option to purchase cocktails like Margarita, Mojito and Strawberry Daiquiri (between 3.50 – 5 Euro). All served in a nice glass with an Umbrella.

Relax without fighting for sunbeds

Unlike other hotels, we never experienced any issues in getting a sunbed. There was no rushing out at 6am to fight over the best ones! We used to put our towels on sunbed around 8.30am on the way to breakfast, with plenty to choose from!

Inspirational Hotel Manager and fabulous staff

Ginger and Nuts with Roger, Hotel Manager - HL Hotel Club Playa Blanca
Ginger and Nuts with Roger, Hotel Manager

Roger, the Hotel Manager, was without doubt, one of the best Hotel Managers I have ever dealt with. He was always polite, very friendly, helpful, customer focused and inspirational.

He was one of those unique individuals who always went that extra mile. From changing pillows to mattresses, he made sure our stay was just wonderful.

Samia, one of the receptionists was also the most friendly I have ever encountered. Her smile was infectious and she clearly loved her job.

The Animation Team work exceptionally hard to keep holiday makers entertained. We promised a big shout out to Cassou (very friendly French girl), Cassie (brilliant French Dancer), Annika (a little shy) and Charlie – the Best Champagne Sangria maker!

Always something to do at HL Hotel Club Playa Blanca, Lanzarote

Daytime activities include Water Polo, Rifle Shooting, Ping Pong, Water Volleyball, Football, Sangria and Paella Demonstrations, Tennis, Darts and Pool. In the evening, there was mini disco for the ‘little people’ following by bingo, quizzes, bird and reptile shows (with photo opportunities), music and special cabaret guests. The Tropical Party outside created a truly wonderful atmosphere.

Sadly, the Animation Team at this hotel didn’t work Sunday’s but we just popped over to Paradise Island (sister hotel) to enjoy their Sunday activity programme. You could also eat and drink there at no extra cost.

If you visit HL Hotel Club Playa Blanca, there may be some issues that you might come across while you’re on holiday. My best and personal advice for everyone is to ask while you are there – they won’t bite! Remember, they want you to enjoy your holiday experience just as much as you do! It’s pointless moaning when you’re back home!

And finally…

Camel Ride Lanzarote
Time for a Camel Ride in Lanzarote!

The hotel is about 5-10 minute walk to the shops and beach. We personally didn’t think the Dino water park (extra supplement) was worth it.

Also, don’t get caught out with expensive hire cars. You’ll find the cheapest is PayLessCar which was around 50 Euro for three days (full insurance with no excess).  Then, take a drive down to the camels yourself and ride them for just Six Euro per person.

To sum up, HL Hotel Club Playa Blanca is truly wonderful and I promise you’ll have a fabulous and most memorable holiday.
