The nation’s love of Indian food is growing. So, if you really want to experience the finest Indian cuisine, the award-winning Golden Keg in Stoke-On-Trent really stands out from the crowd. It should be on everyone’s ‘Must Do’ list!
The Golden Keg has a fresh, clean and elegant design, blended with friendly and extremely helpful staff. And, we promise you won’t be disappointed with the bowls of deliciousness.
The variety of both English and Indian Food on offer is overwhelming to say the least. Their website even stated “your hardest decision will be what to have” – and they’re right!
The dishes are cooked to order so they arrive with a sizzle, and they’re all full of flavour and plentiful.
The Naan bread is cut into easy to eat pieces and drizzled with a little Ghee (butter). Simply delicious.
I normally go for a Chicken and Mushroom Balti but this time, I wanted to be a little adventurous and went for the Chicken Madras. It was served in an authentic Indian copper dish topped with a Green Chilli. Of course, it was hot and spicy (as expected) but it was extremely tasty. The chicken just melted in your mouth. I personally recommend this dish to anyone who wants to be a little daring!
Chicken Tikka Masala
Ginge went for the more mild, Chicken Tikka Masala. Plenty of tender pieces of boneless Chicken Tikka pieces cooked in a creamy tomato sauce with just the right amount of mild spices. The Cashew Nuts also helped to give it an aromatic flavour like no other. It’s unique and highly recommended.
Another more mild dish was the King Prawn Saag. It’s basically Spinach leaves cooked with fresh garlic, ginger, seeds, herbs and spices. I have never, ever seen King Prawns so big! Our guest (a frequent traveller to India) described this dish as ‘the best Indian meal he had ever tasted‘
If you’ve still got room for a desert, there is a counter full of cakes, and more ice creams than Ben and Jerry’s factory. Again, the choice is too much – especially for kids.
All the dishes at the Golden Keg are not ‘messy, greasy or soaked in lots of ghee’. It’s no wonder they were awarded the Taste of Staffordshire Accreditation as part of the Staffordshire Awards 2017.
In our humble opinion, Golden Keg is, without doubt, the Number One Indian Restaurant in the UK.
